Praise Poem: I heard the voice of Jesus say

Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Matthew 11:28

If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink. He that believeth on Me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.  John 7:37b-38

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.  John 8:12
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
 "Come unto Me and rest;
Lay down, thou weary one, lay down
  Thy head upon My breast."
I came to Jesus as I was,
  Weary, and worn, and sad;
I found in Him a resting place,
  And He has made me glad.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
  "Behold, I freely give
The living water; thirsty one,
  Stoop down and drink, and live."
I came to Jesus , and I drank
  Of that life-giving stream;
My thirst was quenched, my soul revived,
  And now I live in Him.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
  "I am this dark world's Light;
Look unto Me, thy morn shall rise,
  And all thy day be bright."
I looked to Jesus, and I found
  In Him my Star, my Sun,
And in that Light of life I'll walk,
  Till traveling days are done.
   —John B. Dykes

I like this poem because of the technique that Dykes used. I like the flow of the poem and how each stanza started off with I heard the voice of Jesus say and most of all I enjoyed the meaning of this poem. I thought that the message was clear and how it is uplifting in a way to many people who can relate to religion and soul searching words.
